Diffusivities of linear unsaturated ketones and aldehydes in compressed liquid ethanol

For the accurate design, optimization and simulation of chemical processes limited by mass transfer kinetics it is important knowledge transport properties, namely, diffusion coefficients, D12. In this work, D12 values six unsaturated linear ketones (i.e., propanone, butanone, propan-2-one, propan-3-one, hexan-2-one hexan-3-one) three aldehydes butanal, pentanal hexanal) in (compressed) liquid ethanol were measured at temperatures from 303.15 K to 333.15 pressures up 150 bar. The are range 1.28 × 10−5 – 2.89 cm2 s−1 between 1.39 2.68 s−1. general trends regarding temperature, pressure, Stokes-Einstein coordinate, free volume presented discussed. diffusivities various position isomers aldehyde/ketone statistically compared, being possible conclude that former ones exhibit indistinguishable while different appear for aldehydes/ketones isomers. Finally, five models a machine learning algorithm literature tested predict/correlate new data. It suggested TLSM model should be preferred approach prediction compressed ethanol.
